Ingredients
For the Ketchup Chips:
2 large russet potatoes
1/2 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
1/4 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
Optional Dip – Garlic Herb Cream Cheese:
8 oz (1 package) cream cheese, softened
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
Wash and thinly slice the potatoes using a mandoline or sharp knife. Rinse and pat them dry thoroughly.
Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pan to 350°F (175°C).
Fry the potato slices in small batches until golden and crispy, about 3–4 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
In a mixing bowl, combine ketchup, sugar, and salt. Toss the hot chips in the mixture until well coated. Let cool on a wire rack for maximum crispness.
For the dip: In a bowl, mix cream cheese, garlic, herbs, and salt until well combined. Chill for 15–30 minutes before serving.
Serve the ketchup chips with the dip on the side. Enjoy immediately for the best crunch and flavor!
Notes
For extra flavor, add a pinch of paprika or chili powder to the ketchup coating.
Chips can be stored in an airtight container for 1–2 days, though they’re best enjoyed fresh.
Swap the cream cheese dip for ranch, buffalo, or even maple cream for a sweet-savory twist!
