Dipping ketchup chip into creamy dip

Ketchup Chips and Dip: Your New Favorite Snack Is Here

Homemade Ketchup Chips and Dip are the ultimate nostalgic snack, combining crispy, golden potato chips with a tangy ketchup seasoning and a rich, creamy dip. Inspired by the classic Canadian treat, this recipe brings the bold, savory-sweet flavor of ketchup chips into your own kitchen. Perfect for parties, late-night cravings, or casual snacking, this easy-to-make combo is guaranteed to be a crowd-pleaser.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

For the Ketchup Chips:

  • 2 large russet potatoes

  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil (for frying)

  • 1/4 cup ketchup

  • 1 tablespoon sugar

  • 1 teaspoon salt

Optional Dip – Garlic Herb Cream Cheese:

  • 8 oz (1 package) cream cheese, softened

  • 1 clove garlic, minced

  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped

  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Wash and thinly slice the potatoes using a mandoline or sharp knife. Rinse and pat them dry thoroughly.

  • Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pan to 350°F (175°C).

  • Fry the potato slices in small batches until golden and crispy, about 3–4 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  • In a mixing bowl, combine ketchup, sugar, and salt. Toss the hot chips in the mixture until well coated. Let cool on a wire rack for maximum crispness.

  • For the dip: In a bowl, mix cream cheese, garlic, herbs, and salt until well combined. Chill for 15–30 minutes before serving.

  • Serve the ketchup chips with the dip on the side. Enjoy immediately for the best crunch and flavor!

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of paprika or chili powder to the ketchup coating.

  • Chips can be stored in an airtight container for 1–2 days, though they’re best enjoyed fresh.

  • Swap the cream cheese dip for ranch, buffalo, or even maple cream for a sweet-savory twist!
