Ingredients
1 clean, dry mason jar (wide mouth preferred)
Acrylic paint (red, white, and blue)
Foam and fine-tipped paintbrushes
Glitter (fine and/or chunky, optional)
Sequins, rhinestones, or small decorative stars (optional)
Paint sealant spray (optional)
Tea lights or battery-powered string lights
Ribbon (red, white, or blue)
Tissue paper or soft cloth (for storage)
Instructions
Clean the Jar: Wash the mason jar with soap and water. Remove any labels using a baking soda paste. Dry thoroughly.
Paint the Background: Using a foam brush, paint the inside of the jar dark blue or black to mimic a night sky. Let it dry completely.
Create Fireworks: Dip a small brush into red or white paint and flick it outward from a central point to make starburst patterns. Layer different colors for dimension.
Add Sparkle: Sprinkle glitter or add sequins while the paint is still wet. Let dry. You can also glue stars or rhinestones to the outside for extra flair.
Seal the Paint (Optional): Once dry, apply a light coat of sealant spray for durability.
Insert Lights: Place a tea light or coil of battery-powered string lights inside the jar. If using string lights, wrap them around for full glow.
Decorate the Lid: Add a patriotic ribbon or glue a mini Liberty Bell or star to the top for extra charm.
Display and Enjoy: Use as a centerpiece, porch decoration, or grouped in a patriotic display.
Notes
Use washable, non-toxic materials for kid-friendly versions.
Try pastel or metallic paints for a modern twist on patriotic colors.
Create a full centerpiece by grouping jars in different sizes with added flowers or candles.
For storage, wrap each jar in tissue paper and store in a sturdy container in a cool, dry place.
Add different lights like solar-powered fairy lights for outdoor use.
